15 weeks!

How many weeks pregnant?
15 weeks

Which trimester are you in?
Second! Yay finally in it and feeling it.

Baby’s size?
Baby is approx 4.5 inches, 2-3oz. Baby is as big as an orange

Have you started to show yet?
YES! This "showing" thing has now happened. I really thought I could hide it for a couple more weeks, but I literally cannot button my pants. And my great idea of the belly band is not working very well. I am trying to embrace the "showing" part but sometimes its really obvious and then sometimes I still look bloated or fat. I am sure in a couple weeks I will feel the opposite.

What are some of your pregnancy symptoms?
Started having heartburn. It is not the type of heartburn I have had pre-pregnancy this is like shooting pains. It is very on and off, but it can be severe enough to wake me up in the middle of the night. Scary.  Also started feeling the "round ligament" pain, which my doctor and friends describe as your joints and hips loosing and preparing for delivery.

Happy or moody most of the time?
Happy... however I am yet to feel "pregnancy is so great!"... I may never feel that way, but I am finally starting to feel better about the whole pregnancy. Still moody on and off. Snacks keep my moodiness away :)

Any cravings?
Cup of noodles! Certain things are really good, such as: Cereal; Quaker Oat squares & Life cereal with milk and bananas! Skittles (purple skittles are not sold at safeway! such a bummer), pickles (but I've always liked pickles), veggie sandwiches with avocado.

Any food aversions?
Beef (carne asada or any beef products). This is not a food aversion, but worth mentioning, dirty dishes are SO gross. I normally do not mind doing dishes, but left over food on dishes is disgusting!

Sleep?
Still sleeping good. Starting to feel little bursts of energy here and there. Tried sleeping with one of those pregnancy pillows but could not figure out how to use it and threw it off the bed! Obviously I am not ready for it.

Highlight of the week?
So many highlights! Received THREE more baby/pregnancy gifts! Feeling the love! Totally made my week! (Pictures below) Also, I finally let Jameson give me my nightly injection and to my surprise he did well :) and it did not hurt as much. I am really happy to put that "chore" on someone else!

Are you wearing maternity clothes yet?
Yes and no. Ordered some shirts/tanks from Old Navy and totally made me feel more comfortable. I am still wearing mostly maxi skirts or dresses to work. I need to get some pants but don't want to spent too much. We will see what I can find...!

Have any stretch marks?
Not that I can see yet. But something that I have noticed is how furry (sounds better than hairy) my belly is! It's crazy! I know its juts hormones, but I used to pride myself on how non-hairy I was! haha!

Has your belly button popped out?
Still an innie!

Feel any kicks? (Plan to describe the moment I feel!)
Not yet. I really hope it happens sooner than later. They say you can typically start feeling them 16-24 weeks and its usually on the later side the first pregnancy.

Gender prediction:
No ideas yet. Some one told me because I hate coffee, it was a girl. Who knows!

How has Dad been this week?
He has been a great motivator to get us out walking every night or morning. He also has been enjoying the cute gifts we have received! He has also been exceptional good at doing the dirty dishes :)

Earlier this week, I worked at my "other job" as I call it, which is Menlo Pediatrics. I work as a phone triage advice nurse in a pediatric office with 12 doctors. I enjoy doing this job on the side because it helps keep up my pediatric/infant experience and I really enjoy my co-workers! I only work there intermittent on weekends or a few shifts during the summer. I decided to announce to my co-workers like this:

While my lovely co-workers were on lunch break, Becca & JK, went shopping for baby W and bought a lovey and adorable recycled paper baby animal book! So cute and such a nice surprise to end my work day :)

Then while I was working from home on my nurse summer camp job at Stanford (its a summer camp for High School students who stay on campus for 3 weeks), I received this HILARIOUS mug from my friend Megan Ransford! I LOVE IT!

To top off the weekend, we received this awesome package from my Auntie Laura & Uncle Ron in Washington. The book is a perfect way to get a laugh regarding this pregnancy! Also love the card! Jameson really like the stuffed dog. Thank you!

Weekly Bump Photos:

This photo below was when I was doing laundry and glanced in the mirror, and literally had to take a double look! OMG! I have a belly! Such a crazy experience!

14 weeks!

Side note: Week 13 was hectic finishing up my school nursing job and starting my summer Stanford Camp job. I also had on and off barf sessions (oh goody) so didn't have time nor did I feel like writing about it! On to second trimester...

How many weeks pregnant?
14 weeks

Which trimester are you in?
Officially in 2nd trimester, but not feeling the "increased energy and no nausea" phase yet...

Baby’s size?
According to my app, baby is the size of a lemon, approx 3 inches and 1.5oz.

Have you started to show yet?
Kind of? I still don't feel like I am showing, but clothes are tight around the midsection and I don't like anything restricting. Thank goodness for dresses and maxi skirts!

What are some of your pregnancy symptoms?
"This week I can officially say the nausea has gone away! YAY!!!" That's what she said 2 weeks ago... bummer the nausea came back week 13 & 14... It is nothing like before but I have had a few "oh shit I am going to barf"...and then I actually do barf... and then I feel better and able to eat.  I still sip sprite and eat a lot of cheese-its on occasion. The WORST problem I have had consistently is constipation. If you are reading this and you have been pregnant and never experienced pregnancy related constipation...you are SO lucky. I never had issues prior to pregnancy, this is terrible. Tears, sweat, and ... I will spare the men reading this the details. Terrible!

Happy or moody most of the time?
Happy and started to get excited and plan ahead. I am still very moody (sorry Jameson & mom), but the moody outbursts are getting less, I think?

Any cravings?
Berry skittles are SOOOO GOOD! and egg, cheese & toast every morning (unless I just barfed).

Any food aversions?
Coffee, anything mint flavored

Sleep?
I am still super exhausted at night and when I wake up in the mornings. I am still sleeping well. Surprisingly I am napping less - that should be a good sign. Summer is here and I hope I can get as many naps in as possible!

Highlight of the week?
Our first baby gift!!! My co-worker Monica gave Jameson & I the cutest gift! (picture below of the cuteness) It makes it more real having our OWN baby stuff rather than just stacks of stuff I have bought for our nieces and nephews :)

Are you wearing maternity clothes yet?
So what I have learned as a 6'2 woman over the years, is that clothes are hard to come by AND expensive. I still can't seem to wrap my head around paying for $100+ maternity jeans when I will be only wearing them short time and they will be too short (no such thing as affordable (extra) TALL maternity clothes). I have settled on the idea of getting some of my own pants made into maternity pants and using what's called a "belly band" which you can wear over your existing pants for a short while until you get too big. I finally ordered some super cheap old navy maternity tops that I am excited to try. The best part about maternity tops is that they are super long! If only the pants were like that too!

Have any stretch marks?
Not that I have noticed.

Has your belly button popped out?
I still have a very very innie belly button. Jameson is monitoring closely.

Feel any kicks?
Not yet, but I can't WAIT!

Gender prediction:
Not finding out and still no guesses or intuitions!

How has Dad been this week?
He is excited to feel it move when he talks to it!

Week 13 - Ultrasound Photos

For all my experience working with pregnant women, knowing pregnant women, and the up close and personal stories I have heard from close friends, I thought I knew a lot going into our 13 week appointment/ultrasound.

However, it is not until it is your OWN baby that you can fully understand how AMAZING an ultrasound can be! O-M-G!

I literally started to laugh out loud / want to cry during the ultrasound because I was in awe and shock on how much the baby (size of a peach) MOVES! Literally the arms, legs and head were moving and bouncing all over the place! It was so unreal, not only because I can't feel any of the movements because the baby is so small, but because I did not expect to see that! Jameson and I were quite amazed! It was a great experience.

Here are the pics. Nothing is that clear, because like I mentioned, Baby W was moving constantly!

Baby W's legs look like chicken wings in this photo, but during the ultrasound we could see the legs going in and out!

Blurry!

This shows the upper arm but again is blurry because Baby W is moving. The ultrasound tech kept saying "your baby is not cooperating"! But later she said we were lucky because we got to see all 4 limbs - which you can't always see at this point.

Best head shot!

The thing above its' face is its' arm moving!

Next Ultrasound will be at 19-20 weeks when they do whats called "the anatomy scan". Hopefully we can get some clearer photos!

I will post again this week about my details....its been a rough week! I'm ready to feel good again 😆

Pregnancy Announcements!

Here are few pictures of the different ways we told friends or family our exciting news!

My SIL Cary is due October 2017 - so we thought this was perfect!

Gift for my parents

My brother Justin will be an uncle for the first time!

This was a meme Jameson made for our closest friends!

This was how we first surprised my parents - wish we had this on video!

12 weeks!

How many weeks pregnant?
12 weeks! made it!

Which trimester are you in?
1st trimester, waiting for 2nd right around the corner.

Baby’s size?
According to my app, baby is the size of a plum, approx 2.5inches and 0.5oz.

Have you started to show yet?
I don't feel like I have started "showing" as I thought showing would be. I feel fat and bloated... however two strangers made comments to both Jameson and I the other day about how we are going to have a really tall baby (duh!)...then the next comment was, "you will be bringing your baby here too" as the lady was holding her own child. So... I guess I am "showing" enough for random people to notice.

What are some of your pregnancy symptoms?
This week I can officially say the nausea has gone away! YAY!!! Such a relief! My pregnancy nose has still continued and still seems to surprise me (not always a good thing). Starting to feel stretching in my abdomen muscles...if that's what they are called :) Also experiencing some heartburn on and off. Oh and I am still EXHAUSTED...waking up for work is SO hard!

Happy or moody most of the time?
Much happier that the nausea has subsided and I now feel better in the evenings and can enjoy time with Jameson. Starting to feel less anxious and more excited about the future months of pregnancy.

Any cravings?
RED VINES & donuts on the weekends. Oh and Pad Thai!

Any food aversions?
Coffee - so sad that I still can't stand coffee when prior to pregnancy LOVED coffee!

Sleep?
I am still super exhausted at night and when I wake up in the mornings. I am still sleeping well.

Highlight of the week?
When Jameson "talks" to the baby through my belly button.

Are you wearing maternity clothes yet?
Not yet...I have ordered a few Maxi skirts as I have found those hide my small bump/bloat well. I am trying to find some maternity pants for work but have not found any long enough. My pants are definitely getting tight though.

Have any stretch marks?
Not that I have noticed.

Has your belly button popped out?
I still have a very very innie belly button. Jameson is monitoring closely.

Feel any kicks?
Only flippers at this point (per Jameson).

Gender prediction:
Not finding out and still no guesses or intuitions!

How has Dad been this week?
Very patient with his demanding pregnant wife :)

The ultrasound photos are terrible! Baby was not cooperating, however we did get to see Baby waive it's arm at us! That part was crazy. Here are the photos, you basically can't see much!
That little tiny arrow is pointing at baby but there is no way to actually see anything very well.
